Code of Conduct
GPMOi Code of Conduct for Certified Professionals
The Code of Conduct sets the ethical baseline for every GPMOi-certified professional and partner. Certification recognises both competence and a commitment to behaviours that protect the integrity of PMOs worldwide.
1. Purpose of the Code
The Global PMO Institute (GPMOi) Code of Conduct establishes the ethical and professional standards required of all certified professionals. By registering for, earning, or renewing certification, candidates accept responsibility for complying with this Code and acknowledge that violations may result in disciplinary action.
2. Scope of Application
The Code applies to the following groups whenever they act in a GPMOi capacity:
- Certified professionals (CI-PMO, QP-PMO, EP-PMO, CPMO-A, and future specialisations).
- Candidates applying for or undertaking GPMOi examinations.
- Accredited Training and Exam Partners (ATEPs) delivering certification programmes on behalf of GPMOi.
3. Professional Behaviour Principles
Eight guiding principles underpin the behaviour of every GPMOi-certified professional:
- Integrity – act with honesty, transparency, and consistency. Avoid misrepresentation or deceptive practices.
- Competence & Due Care – maintain professional knowledge, apply judgement responsibly, and pursue continuous improvement.
- Responsibility & Accountability – own decisions, escalate issues appropriately, and learn from errors.
- Objectivity & Fairness – remain impartial, manage conflicts of interest, and treat stakeholders equitably.
- Confidentiality & Trust – protect sensitive information and use it only for authorised purposes.
- Respect for People & Culture – value diversity, inclusivity, and cultural differences while upholding standards.
- Value Orientation – focus on measurable benefits that align with organisational and stakeholder expectations.
- Innovation & Future-readiness – embrace new technologies, sustainability, and change as enablers of resilient PMOs.
4. Responsibilities of Certified Professionals
GPMOi-certified professionals are expected to:
- Apply the GPMOi Framework™ responsibly and in alignment with organisational goals.
- Support governance and decision-making through transparent reporting.
- Respect the rights, dignity, and diversity of all stakeholders.
- Uphold exam integrity by not disclosing or reproducing assessment content.
- Maintain certification through recertification or CPD requirements.
- Report unethical practices or breaches of this Code when observed.
5. Compliance and Enforcement
Compliance is a condition of certification. Breaches include, but are not limited to:
- Misrepresentation of credentials or experience.
- Unauthorised disclosure of exam materials.
- Conflicts of interest that are undisclosed or mismanaged.
- Abuse of authority, discriminatory practices, or cultural insensitivity.
- Failure to maintain professional competence.
Violations are investigated under the Disciplinary Policy, and sanctions may include written warnings, suspension, certification revocation, or permanent ineligibility.
6. Commitment Statement
All GPMOi-certified professionals affirm the following declaration upon certification:
I acknowledge that certification with the Global PMO Institute is both a recognition of competence and a commitment to ethical professional behaviour. I agree to uphold the GPMOi Code of Conduct, to act with integrity, fairness, and accountability, and to contribute positively to the profession and the communities I serve.
